Everyone is fighting the slush on 4 by 4rs and snowmobiles, some lakes are simply impossible for sleds or 4 by 4rs and, some lakes have no slush. We have been producing on the small lakes of 180 acres or less. Still, bring 2 shovels and a friend, just in case.

 

Our fish are still coming from weeds and deep brush. Those of you that ask, how is that possible? Well, its like this. As I have said in the past, every lake is different and that includes maximum depth, water clarity, what type of bottom content you are located on, ledges, rock bars, weeds, depth of your fishing location and, are you fishing current areas like we are?

 

Wax worms and colored wax worms are producing. Try colored wax worms if available in your area. Crappie minnows also producing for Perch and Crappie. You know when the Gills are hitting your minnows when you have multiple strikes and no fish, yes, Gills.

Be aware of the Golden colored dog running off the east shoreline on Van Vliet Lake in Vilas Ccounty WI.

This dog “will not always show up” every single time an ice fisherman is fishing off the Island in front of the east shore line but, make no mistake about it, as this dog has done for the last 2 years in a row.

 

It will run all the way across the ice right up to you legs and growl and bark violently. If and when this happens to you the proper authorities at once.
