Wow, a mild winter is in progress, don’t worry, the Arctic cold will be here soon. Some snow mobile trails across certain lakes are closed due to the inclement weather although, with the recent snow fall, all wooded trails are in fair to good condition and open.

Some slush is on the lakes but, not like 15 days ago and some lakes have no slush. We are still on the small lakes.

Blue gill in the weeds, 6 to 12 ft, depending on your location. Wax worms, China bait, a small piece of Crawler, micro jigs and some bigger. Lure color usually depends on water color but, not always, especially on those trolling motor only lakes.

Perch can be weed related and many are but, deeper locations are also working with some suspended Perch are also being caught. Wax worms, other live bait, tiny plastic anise scented tails, red being good and many other lures are working.

I was in the local Grocery store the other day and a person was complaining about fisherman posting knowledgeable fishing information on social media fishing web sites. I just listened. I believe that’s why they are called fishing web sites.

Our Crappie are still suspended in or above the weeds and wood but, we are now catching over some of the deeper basins. Pink and white ice jigs and other colors, Crappie minnows, White China bait, Salmos, minnows, small spoons and others are working. Simply get on a quality Crappie lake and experiment.

Walleye are going very well, in our opinion, possibly, due to the mild weather this winter. From 3 to 8PM, for us and yes, the occasional daytime Walter does happen but, not normally unless we are fishing deep and that is coming soon, more on that later.

Pike are very routine, for us, Golden Shiners, Tip Ups and weeds, various depths and breaks. TIP UP!!
