As most openers, lots and lots of Walleye with fast caught limits have been reported all over several areas. The basic jig and minnow was our best choice as most people.    Water temps vary wildly depending where you are fishing.  We were in 48 degree water at 6 AM.   Most of our fish were caught in 6 to 15 ft deep and the bites were very aggressive although we did work the baits slowly and this will be important the next few days until the water temps rise.     We worked current areas and will continue this for the next few days. This what I have talked about for years, current areas work for us during the early season.      Also, we had a small amount of milking out of a couple small males . Reports of a few big fish on Trout Lake and some other lakes are out there, including the Eagle River Chain.        This May and June of 2017 are completely booked for guiding, openings in July.
