PERCH, PIKE:        01 – 06 – 2015

As we continue fishing small lakes and away from the crowds, the results are very good. This family was the nicest and the most polite people you could ever work with.  Our Pike pattern will not change much thru out the ice season, depending on what type of water environment you are fishing. These Pike are (as most of us are doing) caught on shiners and located either on a ledge close to a weedy area or in the weeds.

The Perch bite for now is deep, due to the type of lake we are fishing. Most all lakes have catchable Perch, some people are catching them shallow, some are in the weeds, some are on the flats our Perch as well as several other people are catching them down over 30 ft. Crappie minnows  work well, Wax worms also and recently pieces of Crawler are producing the best. There are times when color of your hook plays an important roll in the quantity you catch and this depends on each individual water color you are fishing and it does make a big difference.
