Working Blue Gills in shallow weedy territory is a yearly event. Although, in dark coffee colored lakes some Gills are in deep water and biting on the same traditional baits as in shallow water except, glow baits seem to continue to produce, mostly when they are recharged every few minutes and tipped with a waxworm.
Crappie are still suspended and in some weeds including deep wood piles.
Perch on the Mud Flats and yes, depending which lake you are on. Also, live bait is hard to beet especially small Crappie minnows.
Pike on some lakes also on the mud flats with large Golden Shiners and some weed flats with Tip Ups 4 ft. under the ice.
Walleye are still on the bite, especially around sun down into the dark. Golden Shiners and deeper water this time of year and yes, there are some lakes still biting well in shallow water.
May is fully booked, June is 95 % booked, July and August 70 %booked, September is 50% booked, October and November is in “my opinion” the best daytime Walleye and Muskie fishing of the year, well, May is maybe the best for Walleye, depending what body of water your on.
As always, stay positive, think clearly, do not listen to negative people and do not listen to negative talk.
God Bless John Andrew
